Did you have a good Easter?  Not sure how many people had this asked of them over the past few days.  It is an interesting question to which I could give several honest answers.  And not sure which one answers each person as they might ask about how good Easter was.

One answer is to note that worship was a beautiful experience.  Singing the celebrative words of Easter hymns, old and new.  Seeing the expressions of faith of those who took part in worship.

Another answer is to show how we had wonderful visits with people in a new community.  Being able to have fellowship with others who welcome us into their homes and offer beautiful hospitality.

I could speak of the fact that we also had a good day of rest.  Being prepared and energized for the week ahead, and even the season ahead of us.  Time to rest and reflect on the changes that are taking place in our lives right now.

But I think the better answer is looking back at the same way we see “good” in Good Friday.  The experience of the certainty of God’s unconditional love, forgiveness and acceptance.  Finding that in the worship, the fellowship and the rest we received.  Seeing the people around us experiencing joy as they received the words of comfort and hope in worship and the sacraments.  Sensing the love and support of God’s people serving with us, as well as the people from whom we have recently left.

So however we look at it, yes, we had an amazing Easter.  Seeing God at work in us and in the church.  Seeing God reminds us that we are loved, we are forgiven, and we belong with him.  Easter has been, and continues to be, an amazing season in life.
