A big thanks to all who participated in the potluck yesterday. Whether you set up, cooked, or simply ate the food. It was a good time of fellowship. And there were no leftover fast food meals brought in. A fine example of the gift of grace God gives, as he gives us the best, we offer up our best to each other and to whomever will join us.
I have often wondered what it looks like if we took that potluck mentality into the community. How could we join with neighbours in a meal and fellowship? Maybe we don’t feel like we are good at hosting things. We don’t have the best house in the neighbourhood, the cleanest place, the best behaved children, or some other reason why it doesn’t work. But what does it look like if we have fellowship in the neighbourhood?
There are some resources surrounding this.
Moving us to take our sense of hospitality and fellowship from within, expanding it to include how we go beyond the metaphorical walls of the church. Hearing the words of Hebrews 13:
1 Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. 2 Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it. 3 Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.
Where will our generous spirit of grace take us today?
It’s always great to gather and share meals as we fellowship and talk more of Gods word. I know I have missed this one buh by Gods grace I will be there for the upcoming ones. I always think if Maranath can start up some dumber activities like outreaching to the neighbors and hospitals as well as prisons and open up a event called we Love Lenthbridge which maybe happening once a year whereby Maranath family heather in a park hosting a free barbecue and play some music then have couples minutes of shattering Gods word.
